ORCHIDS

The window shows a selection of orchids which were in flower in my greenhouse in November 2006 – when this site was in the early stages of construction. Currently I grow three main groups of orchids , namely Cattleyas, Slipper orchids, and Oncidiums – using these terms very loosely – on the benches of the green-house, and two further groups , namely Vandas and miscellaneous orchids ( mostly species, just a few hybrids) hanging up in the roof. You will find other orchids on this site , since my tastes and conditions were different in the past and the images include orchids not currently in the collection.

Post-script

A note to visitors about orchid names. If you think a name is wrong , please let me know - mistakes do happen, and labels get misplaced.

If there is no name shown, it is usually because the label has faded , along with the recollection , or because the image was uploaded and the reference was not checked or was unavailable at the time. Again , visitors who can help fill in the gaps are encouraged to communicate.

This site launched late January 2007 with some 250 different

orchids illustrated, and three galleries of travel images.
